Act-Belong-Commit

Kensington Primary School has recently formed an agreement with Mentally Healthy WA to be part of the “Act-Belong-Commit” campaign. Kensington Primary School agrees to provide a mentally healthy environment for all students, staff members, and the wider school community. Promoting positive mental health involves any action taken to maximise wellbeing in individuals and communities. Kensington Primary School will proactively support positive mental health promotion in individuals and the community through strategies:

  • Provide opportunities for individuals to be mentally, physically and socially active (ACT)
  • Encourage individuals to join and actively participate in the organisation’s activities and those of partner organisations (BELONG)
  • Encourage individuals to become a volunteer for the organisation, to set personal goals for achievement in the activities of the organisation and to be more broadly involved in other community events and environments (COMMIT)
  • Reduce or remove economic or social barriers to participation in the organisations activities
  • Encourage staff, volunteers and participants to treat all groups in the organisation and the community with respect, equality and openness
  • Encourage positive role modelling of values, behaviour and interests
  • Encourage support for building capacity in mental health promotion through proactively supporting training and developmental workshops and programs.

Our Ethos and Purpose

Front Entrance to Kensington Primary School - Best Primary School in Perth

The spirit and values at Kensington Primary School are what makes our school community different. All schools and communities have a ‘heart’ and this is commonly referred to as the ‘School Culture’. The following expectations are encouraged on a daily basis, and help make our school unique:

  • Treat others as you would expect to be treated - "The Golden Rule"
  • Listen to others
  • Have a go and do your best
  • Aim for improvement – ‘Practice makes progress’
  • Do the right thing and make positive choices
  • Contribute, help or assist others
  • Learn, enjoy and have fun in everything you do
  • ‘Think safe’ and ‘Be safe’
  • Celebrate success
  • Be happy - smile

Our School Council has developed a statement that articulates the school spirit and supporting values of Kensington Primary School. The brochure is available from the school office.

The school community has a set of five core values and supporting values which are reflected in everything we do. The program involves a whole school approach. The school uses specific strategies that endeavour to reinforce and encourage these values. Please don't hesitate to contact us today
